The Artist
Peter Knowles - started painting when he was 19. He always had a fascination for Pop Art and paints reproductions “in the style of” Lichtenstein and Warhol amongst others.
It was during the 1960’s that Andy Warhol began to make paintings of iconic American products such as Campbell’s Soup Cans as well as paintings of celebrities such as Marilyn Monroe. After Marilyn’s suicide in 1962, Warhol used the photo of her shot by Gene Norman for the film Niagara made in 1953.
His paintings are bright bold and feature primary colours which complement any contemporary room décor or corporate setting. Mixing modern pop art with a traditional room settings brings a new striking and innovative look to an ordinary room.
The original Lichtenstein's and Warhol's have all sold for millions of dollars. Peter Knowles’s reproductions bring the opportunity to own an original hand painted reproduction of some of the world’s most expensive paintings for a minimal and affordable price.
Medium: Hand-painted original in acrylics on stretched linen canvas. The sides are painted so there is no need for any frames. Peter does replicate his favourite compositions from time to time, but as is typical of hand painted works, each painting is unique and is always different from the last.
